Efforts by the PDP leadership to pacify Wike and his supporters failed as Atiku ignored him and chose the incumbent of Delta State, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate in the 2023 election.

Wike’s request to sack the PDP national chairman, Sen Iyorchia Ayu, as part of the peace process has yet to be accepted by the party.

Wike and Tinubu were said to have met in France earlier, which is said to have been denounced by members of Tinubu and PDP leader Adamu Waziri Maina.
