Falconets and Nasarawa Amazons striker Mercy Idoko has lamented Nigeria’s ousting from the Nigerian tram from the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2022 in Costa Rica.

The Netherlands beat the Falconets 2-0 in the quarter-finals on Sunday August 21 at Estadio Alejandra Morera Soto.

The Netherlands scored both goals in the first half, with Zera Hulswit and Ziva Henry getting on the scoresheet in the 11th and 33rd minutes.

Idoko took to his personal Twitter account to express his disappointment at the Falconets’ quarter-final exit.

“Working hard to banish the memories of our #U20 WWC outing. We fought hard, we wanted to be in the finals and make title history but it didn’t happen. Not happy to leave now but always grateful for the huge experience and many lessons learned from this outing. To Nigerians, thank you all,” Idoko tweeted.

Idoko played in all four Falconets games at the tournament and registered one assist.

The Falconets have participated in all editions of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
