England and Newcastle United triker Callum Wilson has said he is looking forward to making England’s squad, on merit, for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The FIFA World Cup will take place from November 20 to December 18, 2022.
Wilson has not played for the Three Lions since a Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria on October 14, 2019 – the match which ended 6-0 in favor of England with Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling scoring two goals each, while Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford scored one each.
Wilson, 30, has scored one goal in four appearances for England.

Wilson is in fine form this season with two goals in three Premier League games so far.
While co-hosting the The Footballer’s Football Podcast on BBC Radio 5 Live Along with West Ham striker Michail Antonio, Wilson has boldly proclaimed he will go to the World Cup with the England squad after earning his inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s squad.
“You take Harry Kane, you take me, Tammy Abraham is doing well too,” Wilson said.
“You have Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings, who are doing well too.
“I’m on the plane, Harry Kane is on the plane. There will be players going to the World Cup who won’t be in the September squad. There’s always one or two players who come from nowhere.
“For me you go – Kane, myself, Tammy Abraham who is a different type of striker, and then you probably take Danny Ings. That would probably be my four, depending on form.
“I try to speak on the pitch. I always say that I don’t want to work my way into a team. I want football to speak for me.
England are in Group B alongside Iran, United States of America and Wales.
