Justice Emeka Nwite of a Federal High Court in Abuja, has asked to set aside the nomination of Aminu Kanta as the House of Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State. , because of false news. .
In the appeal filed in FHC/ABJ/CS/1052/2022, the plaintiff, Isa Dogonyaro, through his lawyer, Sunusi Musa, sued the court for an order removing this person from – refused to contest the election.
According to the newspaper, Aminu Kanta, the third defendant in the case worked as a commissioner and special adviser to the state from 2015-2022 named Ahmed Mohammed.
The plaintiff said in the affidavit of summons that the same person ran for the party under a different name, Aminu Kanta, on May 28, 2022 after he resigned as Special Adviser to Jigawa State on May 16, 2022 in his name. Ahmed Mohammed.
In the lawsuit, the plaintiff also asked the court to look into the inconsistencies in his educational qualifications which he stated in the form submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the affidavit attached to the preliminary summons, which was dismissed by the plaintiff, the court was asked to take into account the fact that Aminu Kanta (Ahmed Mohammed) completed his primary education in 1976 and secondary school in ‘year 2018.
Dogonyaro prayed for the court to declare him as the candidate of the APC party as he had secured the second highest number of votes in the party’s primaries.
He said in the statement, “the name of the third respondent running for the seat of member, House of representatives, Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State as the 2nd candidate” replied, is ‘Aminu Kanta.
“Aminu Kanta is not the name of Ahmed Mohammed.”
“The third respondent said his first name was ‘Ahmed Mohammed’.
