  • Thomas Tuchel’s side have seen a number of previous offers for Gordon rejected
  • Everton want more than £50m for Gordon, who is one of their prized assets

Anthony Gordon has told Everton he wants to join Chelsea, who are willing to pay up to £60million to land the winger.

Chelsea have had four approaches for Gordon brought down by Everton, but the Londoners continue to test Everton’s resolve to retain their academy product.

After seeing a bid of £45m plus an additional £5m rejected, Chelsea are now willing to offer a £50m guarantee with an additional £10m of add-ons for the 21-year-old.

Chelsea’s latest approach is one that would have brought the two clubs closer over their assessments of Gordon and left the Stamford Bridge club increasingly hopeful of landing their man before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.

This sentiment was further reinforced by Gordon’s desire to join Chelsea, which he informed Everton manager Frank Lampard and the club about, if a deal between the clubs can be reached.

A move to Chelsea will give Gordon the chance to play Champions League football and boost his senior hopes in England, having taken the Three Lions from Under-18 to Under-21 level.

Everton wanted a fee in excess of £50m for Gordon, who was also the subject of interest from Tottenham and Newcastle earlier in the window.

Spurs, who have already signed Richarlison from the club at Goodison Park, remain interested and continue to monitor developments with Gordon.
